A Life by Design: Playing the Right Game

In Sahil Bloom’s The 5 Types of Wealth, he provides a powerful framework for designing your dream life. This book is nothing short of a game-changer. It’s a call to recalibrate our priorities and shines a light on how crucial it is to balance all aspects of wealth in order to live a truly fulfilling life. These five types are: Time Wealth, Social Wealth, Mental Wealth, Physical Wealth, and, of course, Financial Wealth.

For so many of us, Bloom’s reflections are deeply relatable. He shares how he found himself “playing the wrong game,” focusing too heavily on financial wealth at the expense of everything else. Wow. It’s a stark reminder that chasing financial success without considering the trade-offs can leave other areas of life neglected and unfulfilled.

How often have you, like me, prioritized work and financial stability, not fully appreciating what you were sacrificing in return? We say “yes” to building our financial wealth, but how often do we stop to think about what we’re saying “no” to—time with loved ones, mental clarity, or physical health? And here’s the kicker: have you ever truly asked yourself how much financial wealth is really enough to create the life you’re dreaming of?

Bloom’s book is a playbook for designing that life, for recalibrating our focus to embrace all five types of wealth. It’s energizing to think about the balance and fulfillment that comes from addressing each one intentionally. It’s so inspiring, in fact, that I’m committing to digging into each of these pillars more deeply—exploring their meaning and sharing actionable steps to build them into our lives.

Stay tuned as I dive into each type of wealth and share insights to help us all play the right game. Let’s build the lives we truly want, together.
